Corsets – Edwardian vs Renaissance?

Posted by: Disha on: March 30, 2006

I suppose a post about corsets is a bit pre-mature since I haven’t really had the time to shop around for one (blaming it on end of term project deadlines) but I’ve been thinking of getting one since January and it’s pretty much settled that I will, except for two issues.

Vancouver, doesn’t seem to sell corsets except in this sex store – and there is no way I’m walking into there alone and this custom corset store for movie stars – looks uncomfortable and it’s way over my budget. So I finally found some online that I am pretty much deciding between, but it’s too difficult without having tried any of them on.
I know a lot of you are probably raging at me while reading this about how corsets were a symbol of opression for women and I shouldn’t even be thinking about it. Actually they might have been, once upon a time, but women wore them to change their body’s natural shape – these days corsets have been designed to enhance it. Besides it’s sexy … So if any of you have any suggestions (guys, refrain from anything dirty) I’d really appreciate it. (PS. the top one is Edwardian, the bottom two are Rennaissance – it just has to do with cylinerderical vs hour glass appearance)
Other than that, Canadian taxes are a pain in the ass and a whole lot more complicated than US ones.

Why? Why? Why? :) Oh, and find a friend to go with you. Could be fun! :) If you’re gonna get it (Why? Why? Why?) you should definitely go to a store and try it (Why? Why? Why?).
